Brian Bonney sets the pace in 108-mile Soggy Bottom Challenge mountain bike race
Brian Bonney pedaled to a 92-second victory in the 108-mile Soggy Bottom Challenge, a mountain bike race that starts and ends in Hope with a route that runs through Cooper Landing and Devil’s Creek.
Bonney made the journey in 8 hours, 51 minutes, 2 seconds. The race follows the Resurrection Pass and Devil’s Creek trails and includes more than 10,000 feet of climbing.
Chuck Dimarzio placed second in 8:52:34. He and Bonney were the only solo rider to beat the 9-hour mark.

The top women’s time came from Alicia Tower (11:09:14), the top relay time came from the team of James Stull, Brian Waldo and Branden Lashua (8:18:53)
The event was organized by the Alaska Endurance Association.
